New Guidelines for Questionnaires – Starting Fall 2016, the eight questions in the chart below were added to all evaluations. The classic questions of ‘Overall, this was an excellent course’ (Q1) and ‘Overall, the instructor was an excellent teacher’ (Q2) will remain on evaluations through 2020.
Departments can add up to 12 additional questions to their questionnaires.
Instructors will have the opportunity to personalize their evaluations by writing up to three multiple choice questions and two open-ended questions. Instructors will receive an email inviting them to preview their questionnaire and optionally add the questions a few weeks before their evaluation is scheduled to open. Detailed instructions for previewing evaluations and adding questions can be found here.
If a department chooses to include fewer than 12 questions, the system is not able to compensate to allow additional instructor-added questions.

New Evaluation System – Evaluations are transitioning to a new system called Blue starting Spring 2018. Staff will order evaluations in Blue at the beginning of each semester.
Instructors can use Blue to preview evaluations, optionally add questions, view real-time response rates, and access reports. Note that only reports from Spring 2018 and beyond will be in Blue. Reports from Fall 2008-Winter 2018 will remain in Faculty Center in Wolverine Access.
Students can take evaluations in Blue or through a link in Canvas. To access Blue, go to https://umich.bluera.com/umich.
