The Registrar’s Office offers an e-learning course for faculty, researchers, staff, and students about responsibly handling student data in accordance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). The course is available to University of Michigan faculty, staff, and students through My LINC — the University of Michigan’s web-based learning and information center. Search for RO100 FERPA at U-M within My LINC. The course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and includes an assessment.

This course is required for some staff who can access student records, depending on their department’s policy. The course is highly recommended for all university faculty, staff, and researchers.
